Looks like Peter O'Toole will finally get his Oscar. The Academy was a bit concerned that he might refuse to show up for their honorary award. Personally, I don't blame him. IMO, His role in Lawrence of Arabia was absolutely amazing and more deserving of an Oscar than Gregory Peck in To Kill a Mockingbird. Showing up the Academy would be a fitting, if immature, slight. BTW, Lawrence of Arabia has always been my #1 movie. That is, until The Matrix was released.
Tiger Woods has to be the most dominating athlete of his sport. (Lance Armstrong may dominate cycling, but don't they always have some dominate cyclist every 4-5 years?) After laying off the clubs for a bit of post-surgery rehab, he is now back atop the leaderboard at the Buick Invitational. Buick management must be so happy. Does anyone really believe that Tiger drives a Buick? And if he does, do they believe he'd be driving one without getting paid for it?
A scary, yet telling picture from one of the many anti-war rallies around the world. Chilling, if you ask me. Ironic if you ask some other folks. Friday, February 14, 2003
This Miguel Estrada thing has me annoyed. Why, I even disagree with Glenn Reynolds! In case you have not been watching TV, the Democrats have been blocking, via filibuster, Estrada's nomination to the US Court of Appeals for the DC Circuit. Why? I believe it is clearly because Estrada holds some less-than-liberal views on certain topics. The above linked ad specifically states this, but it does it in an under-handed way that makes it seem like the Dems are rascist. Glenn wrote this, and Mark Kleimen wrote this. Imagine the outrage that would have ensued if this was the other way around? The fact is, Estrada would be a terrible blow to the Democrat's admonitions that Republicans are rascist and that minorities need help to succeed. Wednesday, February 12, 2003
I am looking for a good site for hosting. My list is here: www.mysitehosting.net. Any other good ones?
I find all this hoopla over the Joe Millionaire thing to be a bit excessive. I bet the "big twist" is that the guy really did inherit money.

Why is it that "ilk" has such a negative connotation? Half of the dictionary.com examples for the word ilk are negative in nature. (e.g., "can't trust people of that ilk"). Except for Ogden Nash, you never of anyone saying "I love women of that ilk!"
Despite Glenn sheepishly dismissing his role as the best blogger, he certainly strikes a chord with me. Glenn Reynolds.com. Instead, I want to perform a “thought experiment” by asking this question: “How would the United States be acting if it really were an imperialist bully?” The answer is, “very differently.”and What, after all, could Robert Fisk or his ilk say about America in reponse to the above that they haven’t already said anyway?
What a wealth of information on public opinion polls. Now you can turn here instead of getting the USA Today version. Gallup Poll Analyses - Americans' Opinions of France Drop to New Low. Isn't the internet great? (via some-un-remembered-blog)
UPDATE: Of course it was the oft-linked Glenn Reynolds.
